Know a few people who reckon they've literally never paid for water and it's illegal for them to cut you off.

When I was really young, about early teens, I was messing around with the 10p fruit machine in the local club. I chucked a 2p in for some reason and got a credit. My eyes lit up and suddenly I was getting 2p’s galore to chuck in there.

It was a quiet night so nobody was really around and I only had to avoid being seen by the manager who was too busy getting pissed up at the bar.

After an hour or so I’d won quite a bit of proper money and only left once it started paying out the 2p’s I’d put in. At that age it was like winning the lottery!

Old 5p pieces did that in Germany for a deutch mark. I saved a load of 5p pieces but the Krauts had cottoned on. Still a result first time I worked it out.

Ibiza 2003 I found out that British 1 pence pieces were registering in hotel cigarette machines as 20 cents. I went on the scrounge around english holiday makers for their spare 1p's and absolutely smashed the fag machine for all it was worth.

Ended up taking a bag full of 20 packs home and making a killing back home selling them.

Renting around in my 20s I never paid a utitilly bill , just waited for the 2nd final reminder then rang up the following Monday claiming I moved in the weekend and found the bill in a draw.

Ended up paying a gas bill once as the amount owing was less than a days wages .

To this day I have only ever bought one TV licence.

Haha, we did the running the bar at the Hall of Residence thing. We got fucked off after a term though as it made its first ever loss. Great laugh while it lasted though.

Me and four mates ran the hall of residence bar first year at uni. Never paid for a drink or snack all year. In normal years it made a healthy profit even though prices were cheap. This year it barely broke even but only one of the team got hauled in to see the hall's manager as it was in mid summer and the rest if us had fucked off.
Happy Days.

Lloyds must be nothing like their counterparts who have ATMs which it is not possible to put the wrong notes in !

Think I was about 17/18 at the time, Lloyds Bank in Gidea Park on the corner, myself and my cousin popped in to use the cash point on our way into wonderful Romford one Saturday evening. I drew out 30 quid, 60 quid came out. My cousin did the same thing. Someone at the bank had filled the 10 pound note slots with 20s. Ended up taking out my daily limit, but got double the amount. 30 minutes later word had got around and there was a queue of about 50 people outside. Got a letter from the bank a few days later, was shitting myself as I opened it thinking I'd committed theft.....turns out they just wanted to confirm I was still in possession of my bank card as it had been used 5 times in quick succession.

When I was in my early teens I would go and watch West ham with friends who were all about three years older than me. When we arrived back in Worcester we would drink in the city centre bars then I would go home and they would go on to a night club. One week someone suggested that I try and gain entre to the night club and it worked.
Occasionally when everyone was skint we would gate crash a evening wedding party at a local hotel. We did this a number of times without being challenged. Looking back I do not know how we got away with it. I can only assume that the bride thought we were with the groom's guests an visversa or they did not care. We were always polite and sociobal. The buffet was always very good.

Whilst doing my A-Levels over 20 years ago I worked in a petrol station, they had a promotion on where you could fill up an Argos Gift Card when you purchased fuel.

Truck Drivers (and there were a lot of them as it was close to a shipping dock) couldn't claim the points as they paid with a fuel card, the systems weren't linked very well though and you could actually put the points onto the cards.

I was filling up about 20/30 cards a week and flogging them in the pub for 50% off the value, more than doubled my pay and it only ended when the promotion stopped.

Back in my online casino bonus-hunting days in the early 00s I was a member of an American chatsite largely made up of maths students (and the odd pimp). At this point I'd been making a nice little profit on blackjack and video poker bonuses each month. It was still early days in the industry and the casinos were generous to attract players. However the geeks in the US discovered a loophole/flaw in one of the most popular gaming softwares that essentially meant you could play through a slot machine bonus's wagering requirement with 50:50 sub-games. A casino giving you money to play with no house edge is huge. It's like being handed cash to play heads or tails for a couple of hours. And as the house edge was meant to be so high on slot games the bonuses offered were similarly large - mathematically, punters were not going to come out ahead.

To make thing even easier this particular software had an auto play function so I could just put in the perameters (thanks again nerds) and let it run overnight. Was making around three grand a month before this leaked out to the wider gambling community (the original forum was private) and the casinos wised up. I don't touch them at all now. The Wild West has long gone and now you have to actually be lucky to win.

That was a good one but lots of the jobs of my younger days had various scams and fiddles.

In one of my many jobs in my youth I had a boss who got suspended pending a work tribunal for alleged sexual harassment.

The day he got suspended was the last day I ever went in as having no boss to report your absence was too good an opportunity to pass.

Got a different job the next week.

Still got paid for about 3 months before they realised I wasn't ever coming back.

Actually better than that - met my missus in Aus while on working holiday visas, we both were working in shite office admin jobs. Despite her human biology, nutrition etc etc degree, I convinced her that a data entry job was a great idea to fund our upcoming travels...was proper shit push a button every 30 seconds for Coles supermarket. She detested it. The she discovered a loop hole, for every hour more than 37.5 that she clocked, she got double time. $50 an hour at a time when it was $1.20 to the pound....£40 an hour! Conveniently she also had a middle aged British team leader who couldn't give a fuck about his job and signed off time sheets without looking...suffice to say she was the main bread winner for the next few months, unfortunately despite my warnings, she mentioned it a backpacker colleague, who then suddenly started clocking 60hrs a week, and who then told her friend, who told her friend etc etc....within the month there was an emergency meeting at the Coles head office as to why the data entry team were $100k over budget for the previous quarter! Good old Coles still funded us nearly 6 months of travel in SE Asia though!

Re: 'Fess up!... What's the best scam you've ever pulled?
Back when I was a little teenage irk, a big group of us came up for a beam back or pre-season friendly years ago, was pay on the gate and completely forget who it was against now, so either I was pissed or we lost (or most likely - both).

Huge queues at the gates, when suddenly a few of people in wheelchairs came through straight to the front and a steward opened one of the side gates/doors without turnstiles to let them in - I stepped out of the queue, got as close to one of the wheel chairs as I could and pretended I was pushing him. Managed to breach the gate then legged it when the bloke who opened the door for them noticed that something was up.

I've done worse, but always look back on this story and chuckle.
